Wrapping up this (albeit short) series of posts, let us not forget our friends who love a good party! Many brides out there would love to dispense with the formalities of a sit-down lunch and rather let loose with their girls and just have FUN without having to worry about offending Aunt Maude. If this is an option for your bestie (I know it wasn't for me - God forbid if I'd chosen to exclude the older generation!), here are a few ideas to give her a send off that will thrill her!
{Luau Party}
Everybody loves a good luau - no wonder this theme has grown in popularity in the past years! Everybody who has ever thrown a luau party wishes they could steal the set design from The House Bunny and cart it off to their venue for a truly spectacular party! Alas, unless you're made of money, or happen to have access to some or other Hollywood studio, you're not likely to pull off a bash to even compare. But there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Grab a few tiki torches and some brightly coloured lanterns, and you're off to a good start! Hang bunting that greets guests with "Aloha", and add a few plastic hibiscus flowers. Wrap a few mason jars in coloured twine for candle holders and stock the bar with assorted fruity cocktails. And who can say no to a huge fruit punch with a kick!? Get your guests to dress up, and greet them in true Hawaiian style with a drink and a lei. Keep the punch flowing and fun will find you!
{London Street Party}
If your bestie is a fan of the Queen's country, why not create the street party vibe that surrounded the royal wedding last year with invitations that resemble ticket stubs, popcorn in stripy bags and bottled drinks with candy cane straws! Use a striking colour combo of black, white, red, blue and bold pink, and string up some bunting to match your colour scheme. Put out a few vases of flowers, but keep it simple - pretty pink blooms in black vases will do the trick!
Have a selection of sweet treats in your colours available for guests to nibble on - an absolute MUST is a spread of cupcakes emblazoned with the Union Jack! And, if you're feeling adventurous, why not mix up a tasty alcoholic berry cordial.
{Lingerie or Toy Party}
Just because your bestie's getting married, doesn't mean the fun has to stop! On the contrary, it's just getting started. So why not throw her a fabulous edutainment bachelorette party and send her off on honeymoon with a few sexy items?
There are so many companies nowadays, such as Lola Montez, that offer bachelorette and undercover party packages (snigger snigger!) at reasonable prizes. Have a representative over to show off her wares and share a few fab tips for the bedroom! It's never too late for all your guests to take advantage of what's to be learned! Throw in some naughty games, and you're sure to have a hit! Just be aware, this is definitely one you want to reserve for the young and open-minded - don't expect prudish talks about the birds and the bees! And why not let the bride choose her gift from among the array of toys and lingerie available? Or club in and book her for a boudoir shoot. The groom will love you for it!
Alas alas, the end is here... I hope that if you haven't found a theme that tickles you, you've at least been inspired! And don't forget the cardinal rule of bridal showers - it's supposed to be fun! So have fun planning!
If you've thrown a fab bridal shower you'd like to share with us, go ahead and submit it! I look forward to seeing what weird and wonderful themes you've come up with!
Until next time!
Peace and Love!
