Custom Colour Chalkboard Paint: How To!

So many brides, especially those with a bit of a fetish for rustic chic, are using chalkboard paint to customise various aspects of their weddings.  The applications are endless - seating charts, wine glass bases, pots for herbs as favours...

Unfortunately one can be left with decor that harkens back to schoolroom days.  But there is a way to leave the greens and blacks behind and customise even the colour of your chalkboards - right at home!  When I found this recipe for chalkboard paint I leapt out of my seat and literally whooped!  It's so easy and it makes things that much more beautiful!  So enjoy, and if you try some chalkboard DIY, please share!  I'd love to see what you guys come up with!

THE RECIPE

1. Pour one cup of flat-finish latex paint into a container.

2. Add 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout in to the container - mix with a paint stirrer to carefully break up any lumps.

3. Apply paint to a primed or painted surface with a roller or a sponge paintbrush, making sure you cover every inch.  Allow to dry.

4. Smooth area with 150 grit sandpaper and wipe away dust.

5. To condition, rub the side of a piece of chalk over the entire surface and wipe away residue with a lightly dampened sponge.

Until next time, happy DIYing!
Love and Peace!
